We have an exciting opportunity for a qualified counsellor to join our small, supportive counselling team for 19.5 hours per week during school term time (three days per week (days by negotiation), 8.30am-3.30pm). There is also potential to extend the role to 26 hours per week (four days). This is a value-add role for someone who is passionate about student wellbeing. This position is suitable for both recent graduates and experienced practitioners.

Located on the beautiful Hibiscus Coast of Auckland, KingsWay is a high achieving, growing, state integrated Christian school catering for Year 1-13 students, with a current roll of 1823 students.  Our work is inspired by love/aroha, heartened by faith/whakapono in Jesus Christ, and motivated by gospel hope/tūmanako. Our Christian special character is an integral part of our pastoral care service, and the successful candidate is expected to support this.  

About the job

This position will suit someone with:

  • Proven ability to counsel children and adolescents from a Christian perspective

  • Great relationship and communication skills who can build effective counselling relationships with students, their whanau, staff & external agencies to foster wellbeing

  • An existing supervisory relationship

  • A degree in counselling

  • Either provisional or full membership with NZCCA or NZAC
